Bike Wine Tours of Slovenia

After lunch, when we will refuel our energy, we will be ready for the biggest climb of the day! The most scenic panoramic road in Slovenia is ahead of us. Riding through many turns, galleries and with a view on all Vipava Valley, this is a road every cyclist just has to do. Once we reach the top at Predmeja (896m) we will ride along the ridge to Col and from there to Abram, a tourist farm. We will have the option to enjoy their amazing creep or just enjoy fresh air. A bit more easy cycling will take us to Eco hut Nanos from where our descend will begin back to Vipava.

All the time we are talking about the Vipava river, but where does it actually coming from? It is time to find out! We will explore the very source of Vipava river, which is the only Delta source river in Europe!

Just at breathtaking Vipava river, there is a renewed Lanthieri mansion. And just there we will also admire old Roman towers and bridges above Vipava Valley. There is not a batter way to end our tour with a tasty ice cream at Marjanca, which is crafting its own ice cream for over 30 years and anybody knows where the best ice cream in Vipava Valley is!

We did quite a bit of vertical meters, didn’t we? It is time for dinner and wine tasting! 

And that would be the end of a first day of our Wine Regions of S LOVE nia. 

A good night sleep to recharge our batteries and to charge our e-bikes will do just the thing we need for a day two.

On Day 2 we will ride to Goče, a pristine small village with a loooot of underground wine cellars. This is a village made from stones and even if it belong under Vipava, it already gives us an insight on what our Karsic day will look like. We will just take a quick jump to church of Marija Snežna (Snowy Mary) – the name comes from when in August it was covered with snow. A true miracle, considering that average August temperatures are just under 30 degrees Celsius.

Next big stop is Štanjel. Medieval town not to be missed! With a big protecting wall, church, and small narrow streets it is a pure Karstic jewel. And did we mention that you will enjoy relaxing views in the Ferrari garden?

From Štanjel we ride our way to Branik castle, another not to be missed cultural attraction here. It is one of the biggest castle in the area.

After the tour we continue riding to Kostanjevica na Krasu, where a lunch will be waiting for us.

After the lunch we will admire another viewing point on Cerje. It is a memorial tower on WW2 and opens views from Adriatic Sea to Julian Alps and all Vipava Valley.

Biking again at Vipava river we reach Renče and cross Panovec hill, a popular hiking hill just before Gorizia. And just after Gorizia another world attraction is waiting for us, Solkan Bridge. The biggest stone bridge in the world!

There will be just another ascend to Sveta Gora, a holly mountain above Solkan, becouse we just cant have enough of those amazing views for the day.

Descend back to Solkan and a dinner with wine tasting. Its what is all about.
